Senator Richard Blumenthal responded in the linked article, “So there really is no research ongoing. We’re kind of flying blind here, as far as health and safety is concerned.”
Do you realize that cell phone science has many parallels to tobacco science? Studies paid for by industry are unlikely to find any evidence of hazard while research funded from independent sources are much more likely to find evidence of harm. Why are telecom companies unable to get insurance for their wireless industry? “Insurers are treating the risk as cautiously as a downed power line after a storm. Insurers often exclude the risk from commercial general liability policies, strictly limit the coverage or avoid policyholders in the wireless industry,” brokers say in the linked Business Insurance news report.
Do you know why Harvard ethicists consider the FCC to be a Captured Agency? “Captured agencies are essentially controlled by the industries they are supposed to regulate. Over the years the FCC has granted the wireless industry pretty much what it has wanted. The FCC has again and again echoed the lobbying points of major technology interests.”
